Mini v Porsche

It's official: Porsche will not race Mini.

A few days back Mini USA called out Porsche via Facebook to a throwdown: a Cooper S vs 911 in a race. Details were sketchy. Many people were very much laughing.

Porsche has now peeped out from its Castle of OversteeryDeath to respond, and it's a big fat noooo.

"While your challenge seems like a fun and lighthearted campaign", says Mr Porsche, "we'll stick to racing the way we have over the decades. We welcome you at Sebring, Le Mans, Daytona or any other sanctioned race where there is more at stake than T-shirts and valet parking spaces."

Ooooh, burned! Like, totally owned! Uberlolz! And such.

Anyway, they've also pointed to a rather nifty little video which shows that Porsche is annoyingly good. And given Mini another little slap on the cheek.

Kudos to Mini for the throwdown, but did the guys really think a Cooper S could whup a 911?

Check out the original throwdown below, and click here for Porsche's link to it's racing heritage.
