Just a little Mit’
Next year, Mitsubishi will release an all-new SUV, a Nissan Qashqai rival based on Evo underpinnings.
We don't know what it'll be called, but we do know it'll look a bit like this. Apart from more, y'know, metally and less pencilly.
Heavily based on the cX concept unveiled at the Frankfurt show, the new SUV will get Mitsubishi's signature ‘jet fighter' nose and, we're told, a range of eco-friendly petrol and diesel engines: no Evo-derived turbo monster version, we're afraid.
All the indications are that it should be a smart looking thing, though - and with the Qashqai and Skoda's new Yeti doing good business, it could be a tidy little earner for Mitsubishi.
The as-yet-unnamed SUV will be released in Japan next February, and should reach the UK next summer.

They should at some point do a RalliArt version with a turbo. Evo underpinnings deserve Turbo Power. Maybe for junior rallying?

If that SUV comes out looking anything like this drawing that would just be unfair to other car manufacturers! Sexy!

If it's based on the Evo I can't help thinking that platform doesn't really have the space to provide what a people carrier needs to have - the 4wd powertrain alone would knacker up the load space and make accessibility tougher. The only other practical option - basing it on the longer Grandis style platform - is too horrific to even think about. On the subject of hotter versions - remember this is Mitzi we're talking about. I can see them doing a dolled up Ralliart styling package like they did with the Colt, but I don't think they'll be able to resist doing a one-off version, maybe based around the 300hp unit but possibly detuned to 220-250.

Picture here looks better than that cX concept which appears like it would had been cut from the middle.

Looks like a worthy competitor to the Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe twins that are ending their run in the states; useful yet cool tall compacts. I'd love to try one out.

I am a bit sorry for Mitsubishi, they really shouldn't put the Evo X"s face on every model of every segment in their line-up., sure it looks nice and aggressive even but don't overdo it.

Everything is based on Evo underpinnings these days... And that's not "based-on", that IS the Evo, on steroids... I'm guessing they're running out of ideas.

mitsubishi cars seem to look ok on the inside but most of them except for perhaps the shogun look incredibly cheap and dull on the inside like an late 80s early 90s japanesew car. where is the soft touch plastics and digital climate control

mitsubishi cars are very good looking on the inside, well sometimes but that picture is breathtaking to look at and if that person who did that picture did an evo 10 it would look better looking than the normal car.
