Sir Stirling Moss has thanked well-wishers for their messages of support as he recovers from the injuries he sustained in a fall down a lift shaft at his London home.
Moss suffered two broken ankles and damaged vertebrae in the incident, where he fell three floors after stepping into the lift shaft when a technical fault meant the lift was actually still on the fourth floor.
The racing legend - regarded by many as the best driver never to win the F1 title - has since been recovering in hospital but took time to update fans in a video message posted on his official website from his hospital bed (watch the Youtube clip below).
"I would like to thank everybody out there who was kind enough to write to me, email me or whatever after the shunt I had at the weekend," he said. "I'm glad to say I'm feeling better. I'm not feeling great, but I am feeling better and hopefully will get out of here within a week or so.
"Obviously I am going to take it a bit easy, which is a bit of a bore. But still, and I should be bouncing back as soon as I possibly can. I hope that means I'll be meeting a lot of you in the coming months."

The worst way for a Formula One legend to have an accident... We expect (not wish, god forbid!) them to have a glorious accident going at 400 mph at Mulsanne after retirement, or something similar.

Terrible accident. Hope Sir Stirling makes a speedy and full recovery. He is one of the nicest people I know and genuinely cares about his fans and takes time to meet and communicate with them. What you see is what you get. A genuine Hero who doesn't disappoint unlike so many of todays so called sportsmen and women. Best wishes.
