Mugen CR-Z

You may have heard of Mugen. They enjoy fiddling with Hondas, and have deemed the spunky CR-Z to be fiddleworthy.

The Japanese tuner - long associated with building bulbous body parts for Hondas - has just released its range of aftermarket tuning bits for the hybrid coupe to the UK, and we're excited.

You can get front and rear Mugen spoilers, a sports grille, a bodacious rear wing, some groovy brake discs and a high-performance air filter/oil filter/sports exhaust which adds 5bhp giving the Mugen CR-Z's petrol engine a simply dizzying 117bhp (add the 13bhp electric motor and you get 130bhp).

Shell out just under £2k and you'll be on the receiving end of some adjustable suspension. Also up for grabs are some GP-style alloy wheels and sports mats, among others.

Spec out everything Mugen has to offer - much like the show car you see above - and you'll be 14 grand lighter. But this is run-of-the-mill tuner fodder if we're honest. No, the thing that excites us most about this list of Mugen-shaped goodness is the little stuff. Like knobs. And nuts.

Yes, for the princely sum of £221.76, you can purchase a brand new Mugen knob and some heptagon nuts.

I thought TopGear was about speed? I read about this on 28th February!! It looked silly then (big spoiler on a FWD? Really?), and it looks silly now. And I like the CR-Z. All it needs is a power upgrade, even just 30 horsepower, and that's exactly what it doesn't have.

Also (sorry to double-post, but then I am used to websites that let you edit your own comments), that power figure's wrong. Or at least, I would think it is, considering it already makes 123bhp. 117 is the standard CO2 figure.
