Next Porsche SUV: the ‘Cajun’?

If internet murmurings are true, the next Porsche mini-SUV might be called the Porsche 'Cajun'...

Porsche Cayenne

We know how much you have been LITERALLY CRYING OUT for a smaller version of the Porsche Cayenne.

Well, Good News! Porsche also makes something called a '911'. Which is a smaller Cayenne. Oh wait, you want something bigger than a 911, but smaller than a Cayenne (pictured above)? Can we interest you in a 'Cajun'?

News from the internet - and therefore HIGHLY ACCURATE news - reveals Volkswagen boss Martin Winterkorn reckons a baby Cayenne might be called 'Cajun', continuing the firm's long and historic association with random spices, all the way back to the Porsche Coriander of 1978, and the Porsche Mustard Seeds from 1809.

In an interview with German magazine 'Der Spiegel', Winterkorn said "Volkswagen wants to bring more to radiate the Porsche brand... a little brother for Cayenne, the Cajun".

We need say no more. The Porsche 'Cajun'. Discuss.

It'll be beyond hideous and take styling 'cues' from the 911 (again). How long can Porsche keep singing the same old tune. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston etc are leaving them for dead in the design stakes. Porsche are becoming a joke catering for no-taste chavs and wags.

I think the speculation is just people taking the mick, to be fair. It'd be a ridiculous name. And Porsche is a German company, and Germans don't do 'ridiculous'. They're a cold, calculating breed and will more likely name it after something small, sturdy and with presence. Porsche 'hippo', maybe?

Why would they make a smaller cayenne? The cayenne is already more on the compact side of SUVs in its class.

A "Cajun" is actually an ethnic group of people as well as their style of cooking, language, and customs rather than a type of chili pepper, this thing might as well be called the "Porsche German."
