Godzilla’s burning ’Ring
The trouble with fire engines is that, essentially, they're just lorries. Which makes them supremely slow. If only they had a bit more horsepower...
Like this Nissan GT-R Streckensicherung, or ‘rapid response vehicle' if you're after something more pronounceable. Yup that's right, the Nurburgring's new fire tender is a foam-filled Godzilla and it's been spied by the blokes over at the NissanSportz.com forum. The whole bootspace is crammed with pumps and hoses, while the front gets a set of Recaros and a full roll cage.
Which means it should get to the scene of a 'Ring smash - if logic is to be believed - in a quicker time than its 7m27.56s record lap.
And while we're talking about the Ring, be warned that the German police (or ‘RheinlandPfalz') are cracking down on dodgy rustbuckets. So if you're thinking of taking that knackered old Nova for a few laps or, worse still, taking it on its original tyres, then think again.
Check with the guys at NurburgMotorsport before you go - they can advise you and even provide insurance to make sure you go home with a thick and healthy wallet.
Now watch the GT-R give Jeremy a near-fatal injury at the Fuji Speedway:

Yeah you bet with the pump, fire fighting equipment and tank the 911 is still slower. On the bright side for the Germans, burning R8s and Lambos (VW) can finally be saved with the help of this thing.

To be fair, the Nurburgring is a huge circuit, and a fire truck would take more than 10 minutes to get to any particular point of the circuit that had a fire. So something quick that can er, respond rapidly is ideal. :)

It's a great car, putting your neck out from just swerving is a cool thing, although the pain might not be lol, like Jeremy said, it corners like electricity :oD

Hmm, good thing they don't need a ladder. Or care too much about national pride, using a GT-R on Porsche territory. But I still want to see a Japanese police GT-R. It wouldn't be the first one.
