Monster Tajima

There can be only one King of the Hill, and that is Nobuhiro Tajima; the ‘Monster' just beat his own personal best to claim overall victory at the annual Pikes Peak hill climb.

Held on the now-infamous Colorado mountain, Monster took his 850bhp Suzuki SX4 and gunned the 12.42mile race course (of which just three miles of unpaved surfaces remain) to register a scarcely believable time of 9m 51.28s, besting his own PB from 10m 01.41s.

Rhys Millen - son of Pikes legend Rod - returned to the mountain in his Hyundai Genesis PM580 but was beset with brake problems and settled for second place with a time of 10m 09.24s.

Just to reiterate, Monster Tajima is 61 years old. And he is the fastest man up the mountain. Watch and learn...

Is it just me or does that car look like its got at least another, good 20-30secs left in reserve. Not saying he's a slouch as those are some huge brass b**ll**ks he's got, especially for 61. I just think that the package is capable of 9:35ish. Amazing video though!

Yes, DirtyLittleF, I also noticed he lost a bagful of time on the gravel section - he ran wide at a couple of hairpins and couldn't get the power down. But then I stopped looking for mistakes when he got to the last third as I was feeling a little queasy about the enormous drop at the side of the road. I was subconsciously leaning away from the drop just watching this vid. And that is why I cannot be a rally driver.

I don't think Nobuhiro Tajima has huge brass b**ll**ks... I personally think they are carbon fibre reinforced titanium with a bronze core which he carries around on a motorized cart. Now if you'll excuse me... I need to change my shorts.
