Jim’ll fix it
Over in the States, there's a bloke we like very much. His name's Jim Glickenhaus and he's the man behind the borderline-pornographic Ferrari P4/5 (remember that?). It was based on an Enzo but looked like a coachbuilt racer from the Sixties.
Since we last heard from him, our man Jim has been dreaming. And this time he’s come up with a racing version, the P4/5 Competizione, rendered by Dutch designer Michiel van den Brink. According to Jim's chitchat on a Ferrari fans forum, Glickenhaus is contemplating building one for the Nurburgring 24-hour race next May, though nothing is completely confirmed.
He also suggested it will only share visual similarities with the road car, and be based on something other than an Enzo. But it will be a Ferrari. So the question is, what will it be? Our money's going on a 458 Italia...

A 458 with a 599 engine? That'd be nice. Actually, that would just be trying to make an Enzo from other cars. Yeah, either the new Italia or the good ol' Scud. It would have to be mid-engined to keep that shape. Shouldn't it be Rosso Corsa though?

Actually it will be the original Ferrari 330 P3/4 from the 60s with an engine from either an Enzo or the F2004.

considering his distance from ferrari and how new the 458 is, i'd bank on a le-mans spec 430?

I don't think he'll go for something completely new like a 458 (he obviously loves retro), I think he will have a chassis build for the race and use the enzo engine (he can get it from a 599 so he doesn't have to kill an enzo) since the car is based on that layout so he doesn't have to modify too much Deep in my heart i hope he goes for a Carrera GT, I'd love to see a Porsche racing inside that shape, it just reminds me of the glorious years of the 917

I don't know what to make of that car because it is one of the most rair cars in the world an Enzo, so enjoy it not to put all that stuff on it and he wants to put that on 24 hour race is he mad if you crash that thats it you can't get spares. Ithink the Standard P4/5 was so cool because it looks old but new and the colour just sate it off so that Americian is a real prat.

my money say's it will be 599 or scud based, as these will be easy any reasonably abundant to work with, might be a new chassis thou like ErdosG says. one for GT5 thou. :D

Hi The Blue Car is a photshop done several years ago by Michiel van den Brink to show what a Competizione version of Ferrari P 4/5 by Pininfarina might look like. If we are able to get a sponsor and proceed P 4/5 Competizione will look a bit different than that. She will be built on a Ferrari chassis which we will modify but not on an Enzo/FXX/MCC tub/chassis as the class we hope to race in does not allow carbon fiber tubs. She will be Ferrari V 12 Powered. We will run in an Experimental class and have no illusions about winning but simply want to race in the spirit of the old days. Our hope is to run the 24 Hours of Nurburing. I hope if this comes to pass you will go to that race and say hello. Cheers Jim

If Glickenhaus chooses anything less than an Enzo to base this car off of it won't be half as cool as the original. The whole allure of the original P4/5 was that he cut-up the most bleeding-edge Ferrari of the day in order to build it. Imagine now if instead he uses an F430 chassis or something of the sort to build what should be an even more ludicrous car than the first version, seriously uncool. FXX Evoluzione or don't bother.

Ehm yeah i think it looks brilliant, but my head keeps screaming "MASERATI", that does not look like a ferrari at all! not saying it's that much of a bad thing, it's breath taking.. But it does not look like one.

I don't know about LMS regulations, but I can imagine that the GT-class is only open to series-produced cars. If so, it'd have to compete as prototype (LMP2) and it wouldn't stand a chance. Not against the Porsche Spyder and such. With only one car, no factory backup and no serious testing facilities? It'll be like a snowball in hell, I'm afraid. It's beautiful though.

She would run in an Experimental Class as a one off GT car. Our hope would be simply to put on a good show, enjoy ourselves and let the winds of the old days blow through our hair.
