Old car adverts featuring French speakers aren't really our forte. There's Nicole huskily whispering "Papa", Thierry Henry inventing new nonsense words to sell Renault Clios... That's about it.
So we're delighted to welcome a new entry into our canon: this little beauty from the days before CO2 emissions formed the bedrock of all motor car marketing. Where else can you see a tin-can bodied Peugeot GTi being dropped from a genuine Hercules transporter before being pelted by explosive parachute rockets on an icy lake?
Any more Gallic moments of pre-CGI brilliance out there, TopGear.commissars?

Not really retro, but the audi R8 commercial "beep beep" is one of the very best. More retro: a citroen GS on driving 3 wheels (it's always the rear passenger side one they remove). Or since we're dealign with citroen: a more recent one for their 100 anniversary where a dude with a really old citroen truck brings it in for an oil change and hands of the "key" - if you've not seen it: remember how to start a really old car ... they "key" is a two hand starting device.

Nice :) Nowadays, there are still a few good commercials too, although not as action-filled. As a side note, at the beginning of the video, in the bottom right corner there's 'hamster' written....guess whom I was reminded of? :p

Presume the herc' flying so insanely close over the Pug was for real? Stunning bit of flying if it was. Fave ad of all time was the full length version of the Honda Power of Dreams (2004?) - superb, perfect advertising. I was a print ad for the Lotus Carlton (or possibly the Carlton GSi 3000?) that had the tagline "the Prosche will be along in a couple of seconds" - always liked that one :)
