Driving you up the wall
See more Peugeot Metromorph pics
We have seen the future, and it is sticky. This is
the Peugeot Metromorph concept, a smart extension of those building-scaling cars
from Minority Report.
It's the brainchild of Roman Mistiuk, a design student at the Academy of Art University, and here's how it works: the concept seats two, and runs flat along the road like a
computer mouse.
Until, that is, you reach the outside of your futuristic apartment block - in
the future, everyone will live in futuristic apartment blocks - when it flips
the seats through 90 degrees and scuttles up the side of the building to your
futuristic bay window. Upon reaching said window, it will dock and the floor
will mysteriously open, allowing easy ingress to your pad.
Smart, eh? Not only does it save you the effort of catching a lift with that
sweaty bloke who doesn't appear to have discovered anti-perspirant, but the
Metromorph also negates the need for street-side parking spaces.
It's powered, said Mistiuk, by a pair of in-wheel electric motors, though
there's no word on how it'll stick to the side of the building. An enormous
number of very, very secure future-magnets, we're hoping - you don't want your
balcony attachment/city runabout to become an impromptu rollercoaster ride,
too...

Why do Peugeot have such an obsession with crap "mobility solutions" for "the metropolis of tomorow"?

And when you are at home, all the people on the upper floors can't leave nor return home since your car is on the way up.

@IrishStiggy They're French creative types and still think Le Courbusian idea of all of us living in high rise flats is a good idea (despite La Haine showing them different...)

I recommend solving the problems of today rather than solving the problems of tomorrow - I am short sighted like that. It implies that white people (that does not reproduce) can float around like this while the Mexicans stay in the fields. Imagine how cumbersome it would be to strap everything down at all times, including groceries and toys, and all that stuff you have littering your cars. And you cannot have friends over either, because if you are home your window is taken. Will there be an off-road version for people on the country side? Will there be mud all over the shiny buildings? And why am I wasting my time on this?

Interesting design, but I'm sure the building climbing thing simply won't work. What happens when someone in a floor above wants to get home or leave? They can't because your car is in the name. How do people come to visit you? They can't because there is no elevator.

Actually the rails are set up in a kind of an upside down 'peace sign' system. When the owner is home the car is out of the main route. Seeimage:http://romalisa.com/large size/elvatordesign.jpg

I guess there'll be a vertical driveway up the side of building, which you then turn off to go down another horizontal road along the docks of the apartments on your floor, then you pull over in your dock. Here's another idea: park outside and get a lift up. Then you won't have to employ someone to wash the tread marks off your windows. Imagine how loud it would be inside... you're watching TopGear, when suddenly you see the underside of one of those cars drive across your window. The room vibrates, your TV falls off the stand, and you can't watch the rest of TopGear! I think future cars will have an inner cabin which is always vertical, so no matter what angle the car is traveling at, you are upright. Kinda like those boggly eye toy things, where if you turn it upside down or whatever, the eye always looks up.

So all flats buildings would have huge rails up the side and ramps around the bottom so that we could use a Peugeot? Right...
