Paris 2010: your reality cheque

Real world cars you'll be buying soon: new Peugeot 508 and Volkswagen Passat

VW Passat

Just in case you were worried that the Paris show was all about concepts, whether the bonkers fast (Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, Jaguar C-X75) or the merely bonkers, here are two boringly sensible cars, soon to be seen blocking an outside lane near you.

One's the Peugeot 508 (pictured below), the other the seventh-generation Passat (though it's really version 6.5). They are the same. They come in saloons and estates. Diesels and petrols. Gearshifts and paddleshifts. They have many airbags, and start-stop eco-systems and keyless entry and LED lights.

Both come fitted as standard with a regional business development manager on the driver's seat.

I Love the Passat. Got the old B5 the B6 was too ugly but this looks much more like it

I want to report this comment for:

that peugeot really looks good.it's nice and simple with no fussy bits.the passat does look decent but all those straight lines and that massive slit for a grill just reminds me of those sleek phillips shavers.also,i don't like VW's new propensity for making far too fiddly looking headlamps.

The passat looks very cheap and I really do not like these boring straight lines but the Peugeot looks like it will be a serious car, an I absolutely love it that black color. Good job and I can see that Peugeot and Citroen are improving in desinging
