Brad Pitt will play Steve McQueen in the long-awaiting biopic of the legendary King of Cool, according to Hollywood sources.
The more masculine half of Brangelina is expected to sign onto the film this week, and will begin filming the life story of the hard-livin', fast-drivin' actor later this year, with the film due to be released in 2010.
Mr McQueen is something of a legend round Top Gear HQ - in fact, we'd say our devotion to him borders on mild obsession - so this news has got us talking. Is Pitt the right man for the job?
The star of films like Fight Club and his Oscar nominated role in Benjamin Button, at least has the right credentials, we have to concede: irritatingly handsome (damn him), with a penchant for glamorous women and even more glamorous cars.
We can't imagine Pitt will be complaining too much about having to drive McQueen's roster of classic cars, including the 1956 Jaguar XKSS, 1957 Porsche Speedster and 1963 Ferrari 250GT Berlinetta.
But has he got the sheer goddamn cool to ‘do' McQueen? We hope so. But what do you lot think?

He's not cool in an every day sense what with all his tree hugging and infant adopting but I'm very confident he can pull it off on screen. The only other candidate that might give him a run for his money is James Dean but I think he might not be available...

In that scene from Le Mans, after getting over the thrill of how cool it was, the next thing that went through my mind was just how cold their tyres must have been... Yeah, I watch too much F1...

I think brad pitt is the closet you will be able to get to the Legend Steve McQueen but wont be any match for him

Didn't I read, somewhere, that McQueen was an unpleasant coke head? That makes Pitt just plain too nice for the job...
