This is the most hardcore Porsche 911 ever, the new GT3 RS.
You can tell it's hardcore because it has a massive carbon fibre rear wing with aluminium supports. And Bright Red Wheels. And loads of decals.
And, importantly, even more power than the 911 GT3. 15bhp more, to be precise, from the same 3.8-litre flat-six, which takes the RS's power output to a nice unround 444bhp. That's a specific output of 118bhp per litre from a naturally aspirated engine.
Impressive stuff.
Porsche hasn't yet released performance figures for the GT3 RS, but we'd expect it to nail the 0-62mph sprint in under four seconds. Top speed will actually be slightly lower than the GT3's 194mph because of the RS's shorted-ratio six-speed manual gearbox.
So, apart from more power, what do you get here that you don’t get in your bog-spec GT3?
A wider track, for one – under those fatter arches sit massive semi-slick tyres: 9 inches wide at the front, a foot wide at the back.
It’s lighter, too: though Porsche hasn’t announced a kerbweight, it has revealed that the RS will be available with a lithium-ion battery, reducing weight by 10kg.
One thing that hasn’t been lightened is the price tag: when the GT3 RS goes on the sale in the UK early next year, it’ll cost just over £100,000, a full £18,000 more than the stock GT3. That’s a big wedge of cash, but we can’t imagine there will be a shortage of punters willing to splash out for the most extreme 911 ever.
Then again, if you can’t stretch to the 100 grand asking price, you could always achieve a similar effect with one of these. Been taking styling hints from the French, Porsche?

Not too sure on your maths TopGear... 188bhp per litre for a 3.8 litre engine would give it 714bhp... Loving the carbon fibre wing with aluminium supports.

No wonder they thought of that Renault, the stickers and colour scheme are uncannily similar. The stickers are a bit silly if you ask me though. You go to all that trouble shaving off however much weight from a standard car and then add stickers to shout about it when the car is already more than shouty enough what with its paintjob, enormous rear spoiler and a frickin' rollcage visible from the outside. Anyway I'm sure it drives brilliantly but it's not my thing as 911s just generally leave me cold - they don't move me like other cars and to even think of spending that order of cash on a car, an emotional reason is essential.

@George, Specsaver called: your glasses are ready. Still, Ferrari gets 127hp/litre in that F458. But those decals! I could understand the 996, it was all about looking like the 2.7 RS ducktail. The 997 just looked cool and sort of '70's. But what Porsche would want to look like a Renault that would like to look like a McLaren that probably won't win this year's F1-championship?

Nice Rover grille colouring. Not. Apart from that, it looks good. Apparently they've replaced the 2 cup holders in the 'standard' GT3 with a hair-gel holder and mirror for all the ponses who'll drive this.

I think this looks fantastic!!! I love the red wheels and the hardcore look about it!!! I'd love to hear that 3.8-litre flat-six engine in a tunnel. That would be awsome

That much power is nuts! Owning a hardcore Porsche like this is like being on stepping stones you might start with a Boxster then go to the 911 then a Turbo and then go for this as a track toy. You would need to have owned a few to deal with this bad boy!

OK, it'll be the track equivalant of the Manhattan Project, but what's goin' on with the paintjob??? It's like a shark that's been given a 'makeover' by a toddler using a paint roller. Though you couls always respray it with stealth paint from an F-17, might help with speed cameras as well. Still, far rather have the new Noble seeing as that'll be far more exciting than the GT3RS.

Actually, I would've though the most hardcore Porsche was the 9FF...1000 bhp? But anyway, I'd rather get myself an R8. Now that is hardcore, without adding unecessary stripes and colours which would only appeal to a chav.

It looks like something plastic and tacky... like Fisher Price. It's just missing some floppy eyelashes round the headlights to go with the lipstick round the grill. It's probably called "Penny, the Porsche hooker". It's hard to imagine they could do anything to make the Porsche look more ugly, but they've succeeded with this, it's dreadful.
