Peugeot 908HY

We haven't really got anything more to tell you about Peugeot's 908HY racer beyond the details we gave you back in September, but we thought we'd treat you to a couple of photos of the Le Mans hybrid anyhow.

Because - well, because it looks like that. Peugeot's actual Le Mans-racing 908 is sat right alongside, and the bodywork is near identical. How good does that silvery paintjob look, though?

It's the stuff hidden underneath that's the clever bit - a hybrid system similar to F1's KERS which stores energy from braking which can be released by the driver to give a burst of acceleration.

Still no word on whether the hybrid system will be sanctioned to race in Le Mans next year, but following the news that the ACO (the Le Mans rulemakers) have issued a new set of regulations to restore 'sporting equality' between the petrol and diesel racers, Peugeot will be crossing their fingers that it'll be given the thumbs-up.
