Renault Scenic Conquest

Finally, an automotive accessory for people who wear hiking boots and carry an emergency whistle. In Central London.

This is the Renault Scenic Conquest, which goes on sale next week with the slogan 'It's a city country thing'. Might we recommend an alternative? 'It's a niche too far', perhaps?

Aiming to mix MPV with pseudo off-roader, Renault has lowered the ride height of the standard Scenic by 20mm and added some plastic sheeting around the lower half of the car.

Oh, and there are some orange interior trim panels.

Still, if you love the great outdoors - in very small and non-threatening doses - you can try a Scenic Conquest for yourself when the car hits showrooms on May 21, with the 2.0 VVT 136 model costing £17,945 and the 1.9 dCi 130 version £19,135.

Compass not included.
