Millen returns to Pikes in 900bhp Hyundai

Last year’s record-breaking Pikes Peak hero to pilot purpose-built unlimited-class racer…

Hyundai racer

Rhys Millen Fun Fact One: He was a stunt driver in The Dukes of Hazzard and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift!

Rhys Millen Fun Fact Two: He once back-flipped an off-road truck!

Rhys Millen Fun Fact Three: His official nickname is ‘Mad Skills'!

This year, Mad Skills is returning to the 2013 Pikes Peak International Hillclimb with Hyundai in a purpose-built 900bhp racer. Hold on tight...

Hyundai has announced that the drifting, rallying and stunt-driving legend will pilot the rear-wheel-drive racer (pictured above) in the unlimited class, while his production-based Hyundai Genesis Coupe that set an all-time world record last year will be driven by none other than Paul Dallenbach for the Time Attack 2WD class. That record, by the way, was a storming 9m 46.164s to reach the top of the mountain.

And Millen's new ride promises some spectacular firepower, as you would expect. It will use major production components from Hyundai's ‘Lambda' all-aluminium V6, including the block, cylinder heads, bearings and accessories. All in, Millen - whose company is building the car - reckons it will produce more than 900bhp and 800lb ft of torque. Should have built one for Felix Baumgartner to get him into space...

This year's Pikes Peak will take place on June 30. Will you be going/watching?

Now share it...
