Rinspeed iChange

Ahh, dear sweet crazy Rinspeed. The Swiss, er, innovators always produce something special for their home motor show in Geneva – remember the sQuba? – and 2009 should be no different.

This is the iChange (can you hear the Apple lawyers rustling their briefcases yet?) and, well, we’re not absolutely sure what it is.

We know it’s powered by a 174bhp electric motor – but of course – and that there’s one central seat in front, but here’s where it starts to get a bit confusing.

Rinspeed describes the iChange as a ‘1-2-3-seater’, which – so far as we can tell – means that canopy-thing hinges up at the back ‘as if by magic’ to provide seating and space for two more passengers. So it’s a single-seater that transforms into a mini-MPV. Or something.

Geniusness? Pointlessness? Whichever way, the chances of it actually reaching production are way down at the Mr-Snowball-meet-Mr-Hades end of the scale, we fear…
