Superbly priced

Skoda's big new 'haloon' is quite cheap. Nice

Skoda Superb

Skoda has announced prices for its new Superb haloon (yes, that's the word we're coining to describe the Superb's clever hatch-saloon rear door), set to go on sale in the UK this September.

Prices will start at £14,950 for the base-spec 1.4-litre TSI petrol model, rising to £26,675 for the fully kitted 3.6-litre V6 - which, with 260bhp, is the most powerful Skoda ever. OK, that's a bit like being the prettiest female shot putter in the Olympics, but...

Other engine choices include a 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine and a new 2.0-litre common rail diesel unit producing 170bhp. Naturally you'll be able to spec your Superb with VW's ubiquitous DSG gearbox, including a new seven-speed transmission.

Oh, and don't forget about the magic Twindoor, the Superb'€™s saloon-slash-hatch boot that threatens to destroy car-categorising nomenclature for ever.

Now share it...
