Superbly priced
Skoda has announced prices for its new Superb haloon (yes, that's the word we're coining to describe the Superb's clever hatch-saloon rear door), set to go on sale in the UK this September.
Prices will start at £14,950 for the base-spec 1.4-litre TSI petrol model, rising to £26,675 for the fully kitted 3.6-litre V6 - which, with 260bhp, is the most powerful Skoda ever. OK, that's a bit like being the prettiest female shot putter in the Olympics, but...
Other engine choices include a 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine and a new 2.0-litre common rail diesel unit producing 170bhp. Naturally you'll be able to spec your Superb with VW's ubiquitous DSG gearbox, including a new seven-speed transmission.
Oh, and don't forget about the magic Twindoor, the Superb's saloon-slash-hatch boot that threatens to destroy car-categorising nomenclature for ever.
