New SSC: a TopGear exclusive

Assiduous internet scourers that you are, you've probably already spotted the astonishing photos of the new weapon from SSC - the guys who took the production car speed record from Bugatti in 2007 with the 256mph SSC - lighting up blog sites around the world.

That car. The jaw-dropping white one, posing on the deck of a naval destroyer. Now, there has been much speculation on the origin of these images, and how such a car came to be parked on the flight deck of HMS Dauntless. Because we are intrepid investigators, we have done some digging, and it turns out...

It was us! Us! In an ultra-mega-world-exclusive, TopGear has secured an exclusive first look at the astonishing new SSC, the 1,350bhp hypercar designed by Jason Castriota that's out to take back the speed record from the Veyron Supersports.

And there's more, so much more, than the couple of grainy photos that've blasted their way onto the web.

In the October issue of TopGear magazine - out this Wednesday - we've got dozens of gorgeous, shiny shots of the insane SSC, interviews with its creator and designer, more mad numbers than you can shake a massive carbon fibre stick at... oh, and a maximum-attack run in the original SSC Ultimate Aero along the very road on which it hit 256mph.

You won't find this incredible coverage anywhere else in the world, so make sure you get hold of a copy of TopGear as soon as it hits the newsstands. Trust us. It's worth it.
