Easy Tiger
We like mad, futuristic concepts. Mad, futuristic concepts that look a bit like a hot-rodded KTM X-Bows. Mad, futuristic concepts that make absurdly ambitious claims about technology and performance.
So we very much like the Sunbeam Tiger LSR Tribute, a mad, futuristic concept from British designer Ryan Skelley. It's named after the inter-war race car that set a new land speed record of 145mph back in 1925, and it's a vision of what a road-going roadster might look like in 2025.
So, naturally, it's electric. Powered by lithium titanate batteries, to be precise, and capable of hitting 60mph in 2.3 seconds and a top speed of 160 while - ready for this? - managing a range of 800 miles. Hmm.
Let's not be sceptical. Who knows what advances in battery technology might take place over the next 16 years? After all, who in 1993 could have predicted the rise of, er, the mighty G-Wiz?

Looks like a cross-breed between a KTM X-bow and an Ariel Atom.

It might manage 800 miles if it somehow charges itself, and being lightweight, enough power could propel it to 60 that fast, what with instant torque from the motor. It could happen... right?

Urmm... does anybody know how much cocaine this guy had had. "I'm going to make an electric car, and yes! It's going to accelerate faster than a Bugatti Veyron! It will also go 800 miles before recharging". What are they going to do? stick a whopping tall pole on top of it in the hope of getting lightning to hit it? Sure, it would recharge the car. Burns your passenger to a crisp at no extra fee... I think I've just spoke myself into buying one...

Love the tires! I think it looks like a cross between a Caterham Super Seven and an Ariel Atom

hey if we can go from an electrically powered 'nothing' to a gee wiz (a piece of 'nothing' powered by electric) in 13 years just imagine what we could be instore for!

It reminds me of a cross between a caterham and a hoover because of that nose. Will this turn us into Topcharge fans?

Before people choke on their scoffing, perhaps they should read up a little on lithium titanate technology. L-T batteries can be recharged in 6 minutes, and store 80 times the power of current (pardon the pun) rechargeable batteries. By the way, the electric car has been around a while. One once held the land speed record, a heady 65.79mph...... .....in 1899 Electric cars outsold their more 'conventional' competitors at the turn of the 19C, though the technology did not really move on until the next turn of the century!

Should've added: not so sure about the top speed claim of the concept car, it doesn't look aero enough for 160. The rest of the figures are attainable though.

If they put it into production, I bet it'll have a Hydrogen-Powered engine.

If they put it into production, I bet it'll be battery powered. Right, discussion! I'm of the mindset that as it has taken, well, the age of the motor car to get to reach the point where we have petrol stations on every street corner, it would take a similar amount of time to be in the same position from a hydrogen fuelling perspective (conservatively then, in another 100 years). Therefore, going greenist for a moment, I'd be thinking about other, immediately available power/fuelling/charging options; yes, electricity. Car manufacturers wouldn't market a car you can't run because you can't fuel it becuase there is no infrastructure there to support it. Sure, if your PC, toaster and all the lights in your house were hydrogen powered, then no doubt hydrogen would be the likely contender for the crown. As it stands though, Honda's brilliant but massively flawed FCX Clarity will fail, and hydrogen will be HD-DVD to electricities' BluRay.

s-k, I can solve your problem: 1: Don't buy a ferrari, they're for people with egos the size of a planet and a penis the size of a microbe 2: Don't live in a block of flats, get a house.

Gee Wizz! I have a G-Wiz! OMG They suck. I hate G-wizzes. BTW that quote at the beginning is from some kind of weird gay program I saw on TV once. How lame is that? I mean come on! Not sure yet, though 800 miles is gr8 range, but most cars cant even manage that on a tank of petrol so not sure how this is gonna do it on a battery made in some eco factory or watever. Top Gear is coming back on the 21st June! :)

Faster to 60 than a Bugatti, and 800 miles range! that sums it up really.
