Fin for the win
Let’s roll like it’s 1954. This is the Superior Sport Wagon, a retro American estate with Harley Earl tailfins… and it’s making us wanna cruise to the drive-in with a comely girl on our arm called Betty. Or Lois. The girl, that is, not the arm.
The Sport Wagon might look old-school – in fact, it was inspired by GM’s 1954 Motorama Corvette prototype – but it’s as new as, er, something very new indeed, built by Oregon’s Super Glass Works out of lots of lovely new shiny stuff.
Lovely new shiny stuff from the Chevrolet Corvette, for the most part. Which means there’s a big V8 under the bonnet, putting out… well, as much power as you think you can handle.
That’s the thing about the Sport Wagon. It’s more or less infinitely customisable: you can add more chrome, more mods or more power to create your perfect retro station wagon.
We’ll take ours with a 550bhp 6.2-litre LSA, Wurlitzer juke box and a big ‘If this wagon’s rockin’, don’t come knockin’’ sticker on the tailgate. Oh, and double-length tail fins. The world needs more tail fins.
Then, we reckon, you’ve got the perfect wagon to rock up at a late-night showing of ‘Night Of The Living Pianos’. Or ‘The Day The Killer Fruit Bat Zombies Attacked’. Anyone with us?

I'd have one with a real quiet 60hp V6, like a Ford '48. Well, okay, 160hp just in case. In this thing I don't want speed but the power to quietly sneak up on people, like a cat. I'd order some really old fashioned steel rims as well, preferably with hubcaps and whitewalls. No lowsection tyres of course. Two-tone paintjob: cocoa metallic on top with cream white on the bottom. And then, when everyone has seen you cruise along, you open the valves in the exhaust and hit the nitro.

Have to agree with you on the wheels! Love the sliding rear windows too, very retro!

Burgundy red leather seats, I forgot those. The car might be called Betty, that's alright by me. Betty Bruiser.

I'd have one in a flash if I were in America. With GM's 572 engine - 572 cubic inches, or around 9.4 litres!! Then I'd have a 620bhp estate. Perfect. I'd definitely have different wheels to those, though, but it looks unfinished in that picture, so I'm guessing it'll get some new shoes soon enough. In the press release though, it says they're using C5 Corvette suspension - shouldn't it have the much-better C6 stuff? I guess since it's almost infinitely customisable I can ask them nicely for C6 ZR1 suspension. I wonder how much all this is gonna cost...
