Meet the Mini-Enzo!
What happens if you take the Ferrari Enzo and put it on a 90°C boil wash for a few hours?
You get a Surpasse V, that's what. Created by Japanese kit car specialist Suzusho, it's a lightweight Lotus-rival that features the 2.3-litre, 256bhp turbo petrol engine from the Mazda3 MPS wedged into a car weighing just 850kg.
Which means it'll be mental-fast. Though Suzusho is yet to release performance figures, bear in mind that the Mazda3 MPS weighs around 500kg more and will hit 60mph in six seconds flat. The Lotus Exige 260, the Surpasse's closest rival on power and weight, can crack 60mph in under four seconds.
The Surpasse V was designed by Kenji Mimura, the man responsible for the short-lived Maki F1 team, which competed in just eight races in the mid-70s. He's obviously a big fan of the design styles of Maranello and Hethel - if you're not so keen on our boil-washed Enzo theory, how about the stunted offspring of an FXX and an Exige?
Lightly derivative it may be, but we like the look of the Surpasse. Suzusho says it should go on sale in the middle of next year - anyone tempted by a cheeky grey import?

ooooohhh.........I like that. the only thing that'd stop me from getting one is the thought of trying (and losing all my dignity in the process) to squeeze the 6ft4 17 stone lump that is my body into that thing. still.......really want one!

All I'm seeing these days is new Hammond-sized cars! Suspicious? Very. Don't really like the shape of it, though.. what's with the "my mother was an ocean wave" type attitude?

Neat looking effort I have to say, would prefer a Lotus or Caterham myself but I've got nothing against this one.

From the side, the back looks like a Koenigsegg, the wraparound window looks a bit like a stratos or an enzo, so it looks very funky and I would really want one. If it costs the same as a lotus though... id have the lotus.

Does it come with radio control? Hehe. I rather like it, it looks like good fun to drive. The design and those shiny rims make it look like a Hotwheels or Matchbox car... which is not a bad thing: it appeals to the inner child of potential buyers. Good marketing strategy methinks. By the way, is there anyone who can think of a way to make "first comment!" posters' computers explode?

love it, lotus's are too common and boringly designed, i would pick this over a lotus anyday, and probably a caterham too
