Vauxhall Corsa VXR

The new Vauxhall Corsa VXR is just how we like our hot hatches: cheap and fast.

Packing 190bhp from its turbocharged 1.6-litre engine, the VXR will cost £15,595 when it goes on sale in the UK in March.

The hot Corsa is cheaper than the Renault Clio Renaultsport and claims to be quicker off the mark, managing 0-60mph in 6.8 seconds and carrying on to 140mph.

Only available as a three-door, the Corsa VXR comes as standard with 18in alloy wheels, unique door mirrors, and is distinguished by deeper front and rear bumpers. There's also a spoiler at the upper edge of the rear hatch.

Recaro sports seats set off the interior, while alloy pedals and a flat-bottomed steering wheel, à la Lambo Gallardo, round things off.
