Volkswagen Beetle

In an effort to recreate some of that Herbie-inspired, surf dude camaraderie of owners of the original Beetle, drivers of the modern update are planning a huge get-together.

Thankfully for us, the New Beetle Sunshine Tour is taking place in Germany, so we won't have our roads cluttered with wannabe hippies worrying about the flower in their dashboard holder going limp.

The Sunshine Tour heads off from Lubeck on July 14 and descends on Gromitz on the Baltic Sea cost.

So far, 135 crazy, wild individuals have entered their cars into the tour and the organisers expect numbers to reach 250.

So, one more reason to strike the northern German coast off your holiday destination list this year.
