VW Polo: now with less doors
It's the news you've been waiting for: the new three-door VW Polo is now available to order.
Very much like the five-door Polo - but with two fewer doors and, er, two fewer door handles - the three-door starts at £9,435, a whopping £600 cheaper than its slightly larger cousin.
It's available with the same range of engines as the five-door - a 1.4-litre and two 1.2-litre petrols, plus a pair of 1.6-litre diesels - with first deliveries expected in January.
Because we're a bit ashamed that we haven't managed to think of any way to make this story sound more interesting, here's the new Polo advert. It's a weird retro mash-up of Grease and Back To The Future which might be a bit cool but we're not absolutely sure.
Yeah, we concede it's the five-door - making the link even more tenuous - but you're still going to watch it, aren't you?

I love the advert but the car I do not love its too boring for my liking and is very unpowered if you compare it to the competition especially when you compare the cost of it. I will sticking with the italians in the price range thanks there interesting, most of them are fun to drive and have more poke and more gadgets for that much of the Polo

it's a VW Polo, it's going to be good value, but...............I dunno...........ever since the Fiat 500, all other cars in this price bracket seem a bit pointless and dull. the advert was'nt anything special, i expect better than that from VW......like the golf ad (like a golf).

why buy a Polo when you acn buy a much better looking, funkier, cooler and 2K cheaper SEAT Ibiza? they're the same car, and its better in every way and it 2K cheaper (when similarly speced, the ibiza has more stuff as standard, like say remote locking, which if you dont have in 2010 is just a bit old fashioned)

When the fiesta goes out of style, which it quickly will, the Polo will still look classy. Anything built to attract children and modeled after a mobile phone will never stand up to the test of time.

I have got one of these cars a courtesy car, and I hate it, is not a nice drive it is bumpy, the steering is crap and every time i go for 1st i get frigging reverse, i may be a girl but it took my 20 minutes to open the fuel filler cap this morning, and it drinks like a fish, this car is shite

I agree with Nadine. I have driven the 1.4 petrol version and its not a good ride. the gear change is notchy and its road-holding is not great, which is a shame as I quite like the look of it. The Fiesta is so much better to drive and is much more fun-its just a shame Ford don't do a pokey diesel engine for it.

As above - FEWER doors (but this doesn't make it any LESS boring). Huge yawns all round - German cars are either dull to the point of invisibility (polo) or hideous bloated niche-tastic nonsense (BMW... erm most of them).

ok i have more comments to discuss but actually this car looks good the sirocco and golf look like trolls but this is a good looking car its far better than the old quad light polos

its a good looking car ok. but the polo definatly needs a new chasis because the current one is a fantastically boring car to drive and tremendously uncomfortable to sit in. it also has absolutley no creature comforts its the bottom line in optional extras. the french may be steryotyped into not being able to making large cars well then the germans cant make small cars because the italians and french have always made better city cars. my grampa has a polo and i have a panda, he actually finds the polo boring and looks foward to the opportunity when he can drive the panda. though vw should make a gti of this it will perhaps help but its still a polo which is a small car trying to act big
