The people have spoken

Ssangyong’s ineffable Rodius scoops our WTF? crap car of the year award

WTF Car? Awards winner

So the public have spoken. Well, you lot have anyway – and we now have a winner in our WTF Car? Awards. Stand up Ssangyong, your moment is now.

Last week we lined up eleven contenders to point our disapproving fingers at, most of them snotboxes that manufacturers really have no excuse for. And the ‘hideous, crap-to-drive and terrifyingly flimsy’ Rodius has won the public vote as our worst car of the year. Ouch.

But the pain is the point of WTF?s. It’s not that we like giving crap cars a kicking. We really don’t. We just think there’s no reason for rubbish cars to be inflicted on the unwary public – and we feel as let down as everyone should.

So here’s the list of WTF?s again in full, listed in order of the public vote. And manufacturers: if you make one of these cars, listen up. Get it sorted, or we’ll be back after you next year.

1.    Ssangyong Rodius

2.    BMW X6

3.    MG TF LE

4.    Maybach Laundelet

5.    Chrysler Sebring Convertible

6.    Chevrolet Aveo

7.    Citroen C3 Pluriel Charleston

8.    Fiat Qubo

9.    Mercedes CLC

10. Jeep Compass

11. Honda RA108

We’ve now closed the voting on our Foreman blog, but you can head back and read the case for each of the contenders – and the comments left by those of you that voted. There’s a lot of anger out there.

The MG thread is worth a special look, too, if only to read all the messages of support the car got from all the tweed jacket enthusiasts. Guys, a post counted as a vote, so you kind of shot yourself in the brogues there…

Now share it...
