Peugeot 207 CC

Peugeot is responsible for reviving the coupe/cabriolet conceit in the 206, and has made a much better effort with the Peugeot 207 CC. Although fundamentally a car for mincing around in rather than driving fast, it’s still going to have massive appeal.

• Comfort

  Being slightly baggier than a standard 207 hasn't called for excessive compromises in the suppleness of the suspension. The CC still rides with remarkable compliance without foregoing its inherent agility.

  

• Performance

  The 207 CC isn't a sportscar, not that many people considering buying one will be under the illusion that it is. Keep in mind what it is that makes a coupe/cabriolet fun and plump for the 112bhp 1.6-litre HDI. 0-62mph in 10.9 seconds is about as fast as you'd want to go in this.

  

• Cool

  There is only a very small section of the community who think the 207 CC is cool. We've never met one of them either, and we're really keen to keep it that way. Just talk amongst yourselves.

  

• Quality

  Although it's not saying much, the 207 is a marked improvement in quality over the car it replaced. Posher plastics, bolder design and a general feeling that things are better stuck together pervades throughout the cabin. If that lasts or not we wouldn't like to say.

  

• Handling

  Although a poor second to the normal 207, the CC does remarkably well considering it's been sawn in half and gained a few stone. The steering is a little lifeless, but Peugeot's reliable chassis set-up makes some amends.

  

• Practicality

  There is more room in the 207 CC than there was in the equivalent 206, although that really isn't saying much. No rear seats to speak of and a considerably smaller boot mean this really isn't a practical car by any stretch.

  

• Running costs

  These HDi engines are clean and economical, which is good news for you and bad news for the taxman. They are also easy to insure, meaning this should be a very cheap car to run, if not to buy.
