The ten weirdest car company tie-ins
Nissan perfume, Bon Jovi Golfs: here are the most ridiculous carmaker/product collaborations in history
Posted: 18 Dec 2013
Today, we were greeted with news that Nissan has cooked up a smell that reflects its Leaf EV.
This thoroughly valuable use of company resources saw Master Perfumer and Aroma Academy Scientist, Dr. George Dodd (PhD), recruited to concoct a scent that "not only represents a zero-emissions future, but one scientifically proven to induce a positive sense of well-being to the sniffer."
According to Nissan, Dodd's concoction packs the essence of cut green grass, myrtle oil, natural orange and the ineffable "light as air" molecule (we asked a scientist. Them neither). We're told that the scent evokes "nostalgic feelings." Perhaps for the days carmakers got on with, y'know, building cars and stuff, not farting around with perfume.
But Nissan isn't the only car company that's linked up with some entirely spurious brands, organisations, and celebrities in the past. Click on for more offenders from the world of cars...
