You've been able to buy a build-your-own MGB for years, but this is a far better idea. Get MGB, use new-original parts outside, then stick modern stuff up it so it drives properly. Which is exactly what Brit firm, Frontline, does, using a 215bhp tuned MX-5 engine, and matching six-speed box. That's 215bhp in a 941kg car, folks...
Also, for every model built, Frontline buys a scrap B, puts the serial number and reg on the new one, and the DVLA exempts it from road tax. Which, in part at least, makes up for its £49,900 price tag.
