What’s it like to drive a... big MAN army truck
Alarming and reassuring in equal measure, this is off-roading at its most remarkable and ridiculous

Everything is automated in here, in a way that makes your average road car seem positively primeval. There's a dial that selects three different types of drive, not unlike a Discovery admittedly, but then it also does the same three things in reverse. There's a column-mounted shift for semi-auto gear selection and four buttons to lock whichever diff you want. God knows which is for when, and why. That's for our chaperone from MAN to decide, a chap with 25 years in the forces behind him, during which time he has seen every theatre of war you can think of, except Afghanistan. And he's off there in a couple of months. Digger knows his stuff. He would have to, with a name like that.
