TG drives Maserati’s GranCabrio
Maserati's GranCabrio is more than a match for the beauties of Rome. Well, apart from the women...

The road up to Tolfa is very challenging. There are sharp dips and crests, it's oddly cambered in places, and there are tricky switchbacks. The problem now is one of shifting mass: the GranCabrio has rather a lot of it, and offers a simple but profound lesson in why lightweight cars are more fun to throw around than heavy ones. Its kerbweight is a lardy 1,980kg, which means that with me, my luggage and three beautiful Italian girls on board, there's not much change out of 2.2 tonnes.
