TG drives Maserati’s GranCabrio
Maserati's GranCabrio is more than a match for the beauties of Rome. Well, apart from the women...

God, this is a good-looking car. One of Pininfarina's most arresting efforts in years, the GranTurismo coupe was apparently never meant to be a convertible, so the decapitation process shouldn't be this lightly worn. But lower the roof - it takes a rather lazy 28 seconds, by the way, but who's counting? - and two of its most sensual highlights are even more thrilling to look at than before. The way its snout resolves into the front wing is nothing less than unadulterated visual genius, and a throwback to a time when beautiful Italian cars simply mimicked the curves best showcased by beautiful Italian women (think Ferrari 250 GT SWB and various Zagatos). At the other end, there's the sweetest downward arc over the rear wheelarch, and a little upswept kink on the boot-lid.
