TG drives Maserati’s GranCabrio
Maserati's GranCabrio is more than a match for the beauties of Rome. Well, apart from the women...

So, a luminously pretty machine, then. Especially when bathed in the famously liquid Roman sunlight, and surrounded by a smattering of the city's beautiful people. Hell of a place to debut a new car, though. The locals take no prisoners, so you have no option but to launch yourself into the mêlée and hope for the best. Fine in an old Fiat Tipo, less fine in a £100k convertible. Chuck in prolifically cobbled and badly surfaced roads and you have a set of circumstances that would have reduced the old Maserati Spyder to a quivering pile of metal and glass. The Romans may have invented roads, but they really ought to resurface them more often than once every 1,000 years.
