There's no delay, just a simple serration in the acceleration as each gear is switched. It's a bespoke single-clutch transmission: a twin-clutch would have weighed significantly more, and its extra bulk would have interfered with the airflow through the rear diffuser. Oh, and there's no reverse gear. The engine simply declutches and the motor current is reversed. When I'm driving gently around the track access roads, gearshifts make your head nod, but there's a potential fix in programming the front motor to fill the torque hole.
