Which is why, when I find myself with the outside edges of my offside pair of tyres hanging out over a 1,100ft drop as a drunk man in a large lorry inches past my passenger door, I wonder why I brought my brand-spanking new longterm-test Jaguar XJ on this faintly terrifying adventure. A Jaguar XJ that currently feels about 17-feet wide. Oh yes, it has air-conditioned seats with a massage function, fabulous styling and loads of room, a wicked animated dash and a curiously quiet diesel engine, but I don't think it has wings and I'm pretty sure it can't actually bloody fly.
