Buy Fangio’s old daily driver
He’s considered the finest racing driver in history. And he used to drive this.

Three months ago, a 1950s Mercedes F1 car raced by Argentinian great Juan Manuel Fangio sold for £19.6m at auction; fitting, considering he's widely considered as one of, if not the, greatest F1 driver in history.
If that was out of your budget however, we've got a little treat, in the shape of something less cool, less fast, and overall less Formula One than that gorgeous Merc. In fact, it's a bit of a shed, but it's a famous shed; a shed that's housed the derriere of Mr Fangio himself, and it's coming up for auction.
It's a 1970 IKA Torino 380S, believed to have been gifted to Fangio in honour of his contribution to the creation of Argentina's ‘national car'. Oh, that's right, the IKA was an Argentinian company - Industrias Kaiser Argentina - that apparently was in cohorts with Kaiser Motors in the USA, and produced Kaiser Jeeps and AMC models. This Torino was said to be its most famous product.
It's powered by a 3.0-litre straight six, and we're told the car is "offered in highly original condition" (read into that as you will), laying untouched since Fangio passed away in 1995. It is believed Fangio used this as his daily driver, and it comes complete with insurance documents from the time, an Argentinian vehicle green card, handbook, service card and even Fangio's international licence. In case you're wondering, this last item is the winner in any top trumps argument.
"If you want a car that has been touched with motor racing greatness and won't break the bank," says Nick Whale, MD of Silverstone Auctions who are offering the car, "this is surely it."
Ah yes, about that price we mentioned. There is no reserve, and Silverstone reckons it'll sell for around £25,000. For the same price as a Toyota GT86, you could have a car made by a company you've never heard of that's in a bit of a shoddy state, but driven by the greatest of them all. It's your call. The auction will take place between 15-16 November at the Birmingham NEC.
