May on the Moon

But the space car could be the spur to new thinking. There's already evidence of this in the LER's suspension and steering system, which to my mind could benefit a small Fiat. The builders of Moon cars, and maybe Mars cars, will have to consider new terrain, new means of generating and conserving power, new and more dependable materials, new means of maintaining a cabin environment, lower weight, greater range and much longer service intervals. All of this could spin off into a better Panda. The LER could turn out to be the best thing that's ever happened to motoring.
Of course, space exploration may one day give us anti-matter-powered levitating transport capsules, and we can forget about cars. But for the past century the car has needed a rocket up its arse.
And now it's about to get one.
