The core reason for this in all three cases is that the companies didn't just make a coupe and then cut off the roof to make the convertible. They have designed completely separate convertible versions of the cars. They share components with their coupe twins, but the body and frame are unique to each. It might sound like an expensive way to build a car, and it is. But when you're as serious as these three carmakers about building the best convertible in your class, there isn't an alternative.
