Of course, the Z Roadster is even noisier with the roof down rather than up, but it's the preferred mode unless it's raining. Then you want the roof up not just to stay dry but also because rain on canvas, when you're inside the car, is one of the best noises in the world. Particularly when the roof doesn't leak, and the Z's seems unlikely to do that as Nissan has swapped a more durable cloth for the previous vinyl effort. Plus there's a heated glass rear window, so you can see what's behind clearly, whatever the weather.
Not that you'll often find yourself looking back to see what convertibles are catching you. I know it might come as a surprise but, other than an open-topped supercar, only a new Boxster S is in the same performance league right now.
