Old Trans-Am racers revisited
Big, old and bold – racing just ain’t racing unless you’re in historic Trans Ams. Just remember to wear some serious ear plugs...

I think I'm awake, but I could be dreaming. I'm driving down the start/finish straight at Infineon Raceway - what used to be called Sears Point - in the 1971 Trans-Am Championship-winning AMC Javelin AMX. Not a replica, the very car itself. And I've just caught sight of the pack of cars chasing me, a thunderous cabal of racing Boss 302 Mustangs, lairy low-slung Camaros and a lurid green Dodge Challenger. They sound angry, really angry.
I’m not wearing a helmet, gloves, firesuit or anything more protective than a scarf. It occurs to me that I probably should be, but there’s no time to fix that now. I’ve just been waved past the pace car and there’s a clear track in front of me. I’m not stopping for anything now.
