While we were on the ferry we debated whether or not, as Hammond has contended, it actually looks a bit like an Austin Maxi. It definitely doesn't look quite right, we decided. There's too much bulk at the rear, and its eyes are a bit geeky. Then we decided to go on the bridge and annoy the skipper by pressing his fog-horn button.
And the ferry throbbed soothingly across the silver sea that serves England in the office of a wall etc, while the ruinous office party pictorial evidence still sat harmlessly in its cast-iron limbo, going nowhere. Ha! But of course this still didn't make a difference, because the time of its arrival in the Orkneys was already indexed in the Royal Mail clockwork, like the cocked pin that sets off a time bomb. It's just that we didn't know when that was.
