Let's move on, to the first big and empty dual carriageway we encountered on the mainland. I was driving. We decided to film a ‘fast overtake'.
Now you know that our races are filmed in real time, and that the ‘hero car' is tracked all the way by a cameraman in the back of a Range Rover who hasn't looked where he's going for so long that it's probably not safe to let him drive anymore. For the fast overtake, we dropped back a hundred yards or so, the Rangey slowed down to about 45mph and then, on the word, we accelerated with the aim of flowing through the shot like a great pale-green tidal wave of muscle.
Well. I looked down at the speedo as we passed and I was truly astonished at the number at the end of the needle. I thought for a moment that the scale must be in kph, but no. This car is so effortlessly and undramatically quick that you may as well just drive it straight to the cop shop and hand yourself in.
