TG Awards 2011: Supercar of the year
Europe just isn't long enough for the Lamborghini Aventador - we needed a little more space...

The balance between powertrain and chassis is different in this Lamborghini from the ones that went before. The engine doesn't dominate in the same way. Partly because the chassis is so good, and partly because, well, while the 8,250rpm, 6.5-litre V12 is hardly sheepish, its sound doesn't have the bombastic lunacy of the ones in the Diablo and Murciélago. Where they boomed and snarled and never let up, this one's voice is a more layered and precise instrument in the mid-revs, rising to its ull, full, stirring hysteria only as you get close to the red line.
