Top Gear meets the DeltaWing
Sam Philip goes on track with the car that could rewrite racing... or end up on its roof

"We're at an incredibly early stage of getting things sorted out," says Bowlby. "If you asked someone to design a new concept and sort it out in 80 days from first hitting the track to starting at Le Mans, they'd say you were nuts. Everything is breaking. It's brilliant fun."
In the metal - or, rather, in the carbon - the DeltaWing looks wholly bizarre. Behind the pouting snake-face, two tiny front tyres nestle almost side by side. Each measures just four inches across: the rears are each over a foot wide. To someone with a kindergarten grasp of engineering, it looks - what's the word? - wrong.
