Up over the access bridge, down towards the pits and off to the left-hand side, and there they sit. A pair of Hennessey Venom GTs - one radar-dead-spot black, one shiny silver - basking like poisonous lizards in the baking sunshine. As views go it's pretty intimidating; the black car is the prototype, the silver one the first ever near-production Venom. It gets shipped to the customer in 12 hours, we have one hour to have a go on the circuit during the Power Rangers' lunchtime, and John Hennessey himself will be with me.
This is a pre-pre-pre-production introduction to the newest member of the hypercar scion, a vantage point to see how a car like this develops. The reason I'm a little bit wary? The Venom has 1,030bhp, weighs about 1,220kg and currently has no traction control apart from the mechanical one attached to my right ankle.
