Volkswagen Golf R driven
This is the Golf R. It has 267bhp. It has 258lb ft of torque. It has four-wheel drive. And it demands your respect

With the Golf R, we have all the practicality of a Golf GTI, the supreme build quality and refinement, and slightly harder looks thanks to the body kit, which includes front and rear bumpers and side skirts. Then there are the central exhausts, special wheels and badges and some R logos inside, which is enough to give Golf nuts some big clues that you're driving the daddy über Golf. Plus an extra 60bhp and 4WD. Great. But can you afford it? Ah.
This car is good enough to have me looking at loan repayment options. Let's pretend that a bank would give me a loan, and also pretend that I had five grand to put down as a deposit. Both are heinously optimistic fantasies, but just let's pretend, OK?
