That's all fine except if you are driving down the highway and your car gets struck by lightning then you aren't going to be sitting there with your hands in your lap. My car was struck by lightning yesterday while driving across the lake on my way to work. The witness behind me said that it was 3 bolts of lightning that came down at one time, striking the antenna and "bouncing" across the roof of the car. I, unfortunately, had just reached up to turn the radio up to listen for any weather warnings and received the charge through my body and the car went from 45mph to 0 in seconds, no lights, doors wouldn't unlock, nothing worked at all. We were left in the middle of the bridge, in the dark, like sitting ducks waiting for police to show up. It was a really scary situation. So, maybe taking cover in your car is safe if you can sit with your hands in your lap but it will be a long time before I drive in a thunderstorm again.

Seeing as they seem to be the latest fad, can Hammond try this in a car with a sunroof, or even a Peugeot with panoramic glass sunroof. If this isn't such a good idea, maybe put a pig from the abattoir in the drivers seat and see what happens. Glass sunroof is so so popular. They must be great in a hail and lightning storms.
