Having recently watched the film Vanishing Point, I wondered if Top Gear would ever consider a race from Denver to San Francisco within a set time limit?

Part I -- Oh, I'd loved to have been there to see the GT40s race against the Ferraris in 1965 - 69. If only you get a glimpse of these Prototype races by a flimsy you tube vid, it gives you a hint of what a bore the present scene has become - over-regulated, artificially down throttled technics, and so on ... Yet, before even being born it was somewhat difficult to see anything ... Anyways, there is one thing that I don't understand about Ford settting up the specs for the New GT: (cont part II)

Part II -- Why did they opt for what by classic terms is a Small Block V8 - didn't the GT40s evolve from 4.7 ltr to 5.0, to 5.7 ltr and finally to 7 ltr? (yes, true, regulation was soon limiting CID very much to what Ferrari had - *g*) Dig miles per gallon, instead of turbo charging the GT should have gotten the Biggest V8 af-ford-able, like a 528 with torque abounding. That's what I'd call a modern version of the GT40. = J =

Not only 66-69 but Carroll Shelby humiliated Ferrari in 65 and through those other years with the Cobra 427. Stick that in your supercar exhaust, Mr. Enzo

Better than the old GS and a properly interesting choice. But for over £70k? You’d have to be barking
