Ah! The Italian Volkswagen. Germany made the Beetle, France made the Citreon 2CV and Italy came out with the Iso Isetta to get their respective countries on the road again after WWII. BMW bought Iso in the 60s and planted their flag on foreign soil (especially the US) by flodding the market with Isettas for those who thought the Beetle wasn't ugly or cramped enough. The ultimate urban conveyance.

Dear Mr Clarkson, so that was the reason! i owned a red Honda City and while it had reverse gear and was extremely fun to drive ONE DRAWBACK was it let in exhaust through the back door. Why i got it cheap as the last owner was on oxygen with emphilseemar. It never encouraged a girl friend or marriage.I was having way to much fun was i onto too good a thing?Regards LandRoverPETER.

Jeremy, you're comment that the car has four gears, but you could only find one, is a key clue to your lack of reverse. All BMW Isettas do indeed have a reverse gear. The car has been unfairly misrepresented. Also, you unfairly criticized the car for the only way to get in and out being the front door, which could be blocked by an obstruction. What about the canvas roof emergency escape hatch?
