I don't like NASCAR but... I like this video, and I have to accept, probably this will change my point of view.

If Hammond thinks this if fun....he should try dirt late models...in the USA. would love to see his face in one of those.

A little NASCAR history lesson for Richard. Earnhardt (that would be Dale, SR) used to practice at a speedway in SC that had ivy (English, I believe) growing over the wall in a corner. Earnhardt would paint the side of his car green with the chlorophyll from the plants as he brushed the ivy off the wall. Nary a scratch on the paint, though. Mad skills.

It didn't really make me want to watch more of NASCAR but I did appreciate the closer look you guys provided with that film, which I enjoyed quite a lot. The biggest problem for me are the fans. They make me want to stay away, which is too bad because we are all - some more, some less - fans of motor sports and racing.

I grew up not far from Richard Petty, and I had to watch a Brit act like a moron to gain an appreciation of NASCAR.

I been a NASCAR fan since i was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY . It was extreamly hard to follow back in 1970 but thanks to the real Top Gear maybe more people will see it's not just turning left in a car.

Well done Richard! NASCAR is successful because the people running the business are keenly aware of their customers and focused like a laser on servicing the needs. The so-called intellectual Formula 1 racing snobs may look down their extraordinarily long noses at NASCAR fans but don't want to be pretentious tea snipping snots. We're loud beer swilling rednecks and we're damn proud of it too! NASCAR is a guttural, primitive, chest thumping sport enjoyed by a diverse class of people. For those who claim otherwise, may I remind you when NBC's Dateline sent Arab looking men to a NASCAR race expecting a negative response from the fans but they were greatly disappointed because nothing happened! NASCAR Rednecks 1, Network Liberal Elitist 0. This NASCAR fan is also a BBC Top Gear fan too! Keep up the good work.

I've been to a few NASCAR races at Richmond International Raceway and I have to say that the racing is rather boring, but the fans (ironically) are the best part. There's almost a county fair/family reunion atmosphere before and after the race that I found more appealing than the race itself. Unfortunately, Mr. Hammond missed my favorite part of the race, when the guest speaker says 'gentlemen, start your engines.' The raceway goes from tolerably quiet to 'super male' loud. Always enjoyable.
